Things to do!!!
There are a LOT of things to do...
Here is the list of things which I want to get done soon:
- In-game tutorial
- Crafting recipes (as in a recipe book for new players)
- AI + networking (this is a daunting task)
- Polish networking code - optimise for lots of strain
- Food
- Add actual health, hunger, maybe temperature bar
- Randomly spawning structures
- Better building functionality
- Enemy NPCs, "Mobs"
- Cooking
- and much more....
This project has reached over 4000 lines of code! And, I am using the OpenProcessing Web Editor! You may be asking why I would use this. The main reason I use the OpenProcessing Web Editor is because it comes with built-in Socket.io networking functionality, which I am SUPER GRATEFUL for. However, if there are many players, the project may have to be migrated to somewhere else and I will have to actually learn how to do server stuff with socket.io and 10000000 other JavaScript libraries. I do not look forward to that day. Actually, I do - if there are that many players that I can't use OpenProcessing then I will be happy.
I may not be constantly working on this project due to other things happening. I can usually only really work on this project at the weekends, and this will also not be my only project. I have many other game ideas which I want to make and so this will be more of a long-term project, which is very polished and takes months to finish, rather than something mashed together in a weekend or two. However, I want to try and balance the quick and long projects, as they are both fun in different ways and for different reasons. As you can see by my previous games, I am not very good at coding and I only really started programming in the UK's first lockdown in April last year. I had a lot of time back then, and (un)fortunately school has resumed so I will be mostly concentrating on that.
Thank you for listening to my ramblings. I hope you have an excellent day.
